On Saturday 6th May the Love Bedford Team are delighted to welcome visitors to Harpur Square from 10am–3.30pm to celebrate King Charles III Coronation. It will be a lovely family-friendly day to make memories and have some fun! 

The new monthly Saturday Craft Market will be held from 9am with a variety of hand-made gifts, craft stalls to browse and tasty treats from local food retailers. (The regular market on Midland Road and Charter Market in Harpur Square will take place as usual.) 

Harpur Square will be decked out with fluttering Union Jack bunting to mark the great occasion and Love Bedford will be helping to make this majestic day a ‘pocket-friendly’ treat for families and friends. 

From 10am–12.30pm the marvellous May Blossom, Vintage Songbird and her dancers will be taking to the podium on Harpur Square to sing from her songbook of yesteryear classics. She’ll be encouraging everyone to get on their feet and dance to the lively tunes of the 40s and 50s. 

Local buskers and choirs will be popping in throughout the afternoon to entertain and uplift.

Children are more than catered for at the event with FREE! rides on the Tea Cups mini fairground ride. Our brilliant bubble machine will be in full swing too, little ones love the simple pleasure of catching the bubbles!

Glitter-Arty are amongst the nation’s best face painters and we’re delighted that they will be stationed on Harpur Square throughout the day, ready to delight with designs fit for a king and queen! All FREE! of charge. 

That’s not all! Bedford Library will be hosting a Coronation Crafts Event where youngsters will be able to enjoy making kings and queens themed crafts for FREE! Also Bedford Borough Council will be launching a FREE! King’s Coronation Trail for visitors to explore shops and venues around the town centre and spot the Coronation themed pictures in the windows. 

And last, but not least, your Love Bedford Team will be inviting visitors to take part in their Coronation Window Display Competition to win £50 Love Bedford Vouchers for the winner and £50 Love Bedford Vouchers the winning shop or business. 

The Team will be inflating FREE! Love Bedford balloons and handing out a limited number of FREE! £5 Love Bedford Vouchers to spend in the town centre over the Coronation bank holiday weekend and in the months ahead. 

Visitors are advised to arrive in town early to secure their voucher as numbers are limited. Vouchers can be spent instead of cash in participating town centre businesses. Why not enjoy a celebratory glass of fizz in one of the local bars or perhaps purchase a souvenir to mark this very special royal occasion.
