Local police shave their heads to raise funds for Lulu

26 March 2019

This Easter holidays, PC Sharon Cummings from Bedfordshire Police has committed to shave her hair along with PC Kerry Jones to raise money for local girl ‘Lulu De Vries’ who is suffering from cancer. Lulu’s family are trying to raise £162,000 to take their little girl to America for treatment in a clinical trial.

On Thursday 11th April from 1.30pm Sharon will be in the Harpur Shopping Centre preparing to have her head shaved by Urbanite Hair Bedford Salon manager, Maria Guillano. (PC Kerry Jones is to have her head shaved later in June) Together the local police aim is to raise £10,000 for Lulu.

The police mascot, Chase from Paw Patrol, will be there for photo opportunities too!

Sharon has been incredibly moved by Lulu’s story, this is why she has pledged to help...

‘When I first heard of Lulu’s story I was so moved about what this young girl has gone through and currently going through, to know there is a treatment which could help save her life and the struggles it is taking the family to get this treatment for her, I knew I had to do everything I could to help.’ ‘Lulu’s bravery and courage is testament to us all, for someone so young to go through an awful disease and still have a smile on her face is heart-warming but at the same time heart-breaking.’ ‘ Having a granddaughter of the same age, it just breaks my heart, I feel at times like this community’s should come together, as you never know what is around the corner and when you will need that helping hand.’

‘If by shaving my head helps get her the treatment she needs I will do it without question. I am nervous and little bit worried but I will do anything for this courageous young girl, at the end of the day it is the least I can do.’

Please come along to the Harpur Centre and show your support for this great cause.
