The former Délices bakery within the Art Centre is now in new hands - serving hot lunches alongside delicious fresh baked bread and pastries as The Gallery.

Avocado brunch with poached/scrambled egg and bacon, Feta lunch and a bacon sarnie with meats from the famous Linger’s Butchers nearby make for a mouthwatering meal. Ask about our own recipe sausage roll and prepare to be delighted.

On top of this are locally-sourced cakes to add to the daily produced bread and more from the Companions Bakers who are working in the bakery at the back - the difference is now you can see them kneading the dough via a giant interior window.

Eat-in or takeaway, the cheese scones go faster than the team can turn them out.

The new owner Simon Gillett who comes from in quality national restaurants in London has returned to Bedford to bring some of his bright ideas to his home town.

The Art Centre side has been redesigned to make moving from one to the other a more natural progression - so browse some paintings whilst waiting for a takeaway sandwich, pick up a creative card, enjoy a Portuguese custard tart, or refresh yourself with a super pot of peppermint tea.

A lovely spot - just what Bedford “kneaded”.
