Visa debuted its Christmas TV advert with the campaign featuring REAL independent businesses urging consumers to shop in their local High Street.
The commercial has had regular prime-time spots featuring real businesses singing All I Want for Christmas is YOU – meaning customers.
The new ad is a twist on the traditional Christmas format and switches consumers’ focus from what they should be buying, to who they should be buying from and features nine real shopkeepers, including a butcher, a baker, a bookseller and a florist – who Visa dubs “the heroes of Britain’s high streets”.
Christina Rowe, Director of Love Bedford which has just launched its own series of film ads says: ‘We love this VISA ad because it focuses on REAL businesses. It also started in early November which was good timing to catch people before they filled up their stockings via online shopping. We are here every day of the year supporting real rent and rates paying business – local shops are not just for Christmas, they’re for local life all year round.”
