Businesses in Bedford have funded some Xtra Xmas lights for the town centre via the Love Bedford organisation.

• Icicle-style lamppost lights are now shining on The Broadway and BID-zone part of Tavistock Street
• Curling Christmas lights are now brightening up St Peter’s Street
• Tree lights are twinkling in Howard Street (under Lurke Street car park) 
• and adding sparkle outside the Harpur Centre.
• Mill Street is illuminated with the same “S” style street lights as St Peter’s 

Director of BedfordBID Christina Rowe said: “Christmas activity has to be combined effort between the BID, the council and individual businesses. We have to work together to keep customers coming back.

“The BID hopes to be able to fund further extra Christmas lights next year – but as we see with the example of Michael R. Peters some businesses like to add their own decorations which we welcome.”

Michael R. Peters has been running a social media competition to ask people how many lights there are on its shop front in Tavistock Street and the lucky winner received an Archos tablet (the answer is over 3,000)!
