Pokemon Go! comes to Bedford

18 June 2018

You may have spotted people peering at their phones and walking around the Bedford Castle Mound on the afternoon of Saturday June 16th.

“It was a ‘Pokemon Go Live’ on-line event where Bedford was one of the UK destinations and it brought 100s to the historic setting,” said Christina Rowe, Director of BedfordBID which owns the Love Bedford brand,

“They were people who might otherwise have not visited Bedford so we took the opportunity to pop along and hand out copies of our brand new Love Food & Drink guide to all the places to enjoy in the town centre.

“Not all of us are followers of Pokemon but it is phenomenon and locations selected are brought to the attention of 1,000s.

“It was a busy weekend for businesses with some joining the Taste Bedford food and music event farther along the riverside and Father’s Day causing customers to come in to town to visit the likes of Goldings Ironmongers - always something there for DIY fans.

“On Sunday it was the 10k race starting on The Embankment, previously sponsored by the BedfordBID, again lots of people in the vicinity to take advantage of the shops and restaurants which were open.”
