Conductor Clemens Schuldt opens the season with a piece chosen by you, the audience, and Beethoven’s mighty Emperor Concerto. Then it’s time to set sail on Sinbad’s ship as we hear Scheherazade’s tales from the Arabian Nights, told in music by Rimsky-Korsakov. One of his most glittering pieces, Scheherazade sweeps us along on a wave of lush sound, from the intimacy of ‘The Young Prince and Young Princess’, to the bold, bright colours of ‘Festival of Baghdad’.
